The Small Lord Fauntleroy

the Small Lord Fauntleroy is a book for child of Frances Hodgson Burnett.

It was published in the form of Feuilleton in the newspaper St Nicholas Magazine in 1885 then in the form of book in 1886. It was the great success of the serial in the newspaper which led to its publication in the form of book in 1886, which gained also a great success like its illustrations by Reginald Birch. the Small Lord Fauntleroy also marked a precedent in the laws on the Copyright in 1888, when its author gained a lawsuit to obtain the rights on the adaptations of his work to the theater.

Synopsis

The hero of the history is an American little boy named Cédric, which learns that he is the single heir to an English count, and leaves New York to go to live in the castle of its ancestors where, after being itself run up against a certain resistance, he is joined by his mother, “Darling” ( Dearest in English), the widow of the son of the count de Dorincourt. This one seeks to learn how to the boy to become a true aristocrat, but without the knowledge, Cédric teaches the compassion and justice to him, and the sincere and maternal love of Darling comforts them.
