The Shins

The American group The Shins was formed at the end of the years 1990 by former members of Flake Music following the dissolution of this one. It is composed of James Russell Mercer (song, guitar), Dave Hernandez (low), Martin Crandall (keyboards), Jesse Sandoval (battery) and Eric Johnson who joined the group at the time of their round for Wincing The Night Away. Their music is generally described as independent Rock, surfant on several musical genres such as the pop (in the line of the Beach Boys), the musics country and folk.

Biography

Mercer, Crandall and Sandoval, former members of the group Flake Music, form The Shins in 1997 and are joined by the bass player Dave Hernandez, who formed before part of Scared off Chaka.

The first two individual of Shins, Nature Bears has Vacuum and When I Goose-Step , is published by the Omnibus label. At the time of a round carried out in company of Modest Foams, a representative of the label Sub Pop proposes a contract to them. Oh, Inverted World , their first album, is published by the label of Seattle in 2001.

Caring is Creepy and New Slang , two pieces resulting from the disc, is reproduced on the original soundtrack of the film Garden State realized by Zach Braff. Their music also was used in the series Scrubs diffused by the chain of American TV NBC.

A second album, Falls Too Narrow , leaves two years later.
