The Servant boys off the Lough
The Boys off the Lough is a Scottish group of Celtic Musique traditional.
Biography
The first formation (being reproduced on the album Servant boys off the Lough in 1972) included/understood:
- Aly Bath (born 15.5.1946, with Lerwick, Shetlands, Scotland) with the flute,
- Cathal McConnell (born 8.6.1944, in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland) with the flute,
- Dick Gaughan (born 17.5.1948, in Rutherglen, Glasgow, Strathclyde, Scotland) voice and guitar,
- Robin Morton (born 24.12.1939, with Portadown, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland) with the flute.
The group will remain unchanged during six albums, the composition being ensured by Dave Richardson. They play of the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland. They make rounds throughout the world, in particular in the USA, where one regards them as the Scot equivalents of The Chieftains.
