Some keys

The novel milked, in a personal way with Jules Verne, same subject as the novel of Herbert-Georges Wells, the invisible Man appeared in 1894. If the subject is the same one, the treatment in is different. Whereas Wells attempts to describe its hero of outside, to show all the disadvantages which invisibility gets, Jules Verne presents the point of view of the victims subjected to a revenge relentless and mysterious. This approach brings to work an additional tension. The narrator, Henri Vidal, presents a subjective vision of the events and can thus make us share his concern, his anger, his distress and the panic of all. One then gains in suspense what one loses in realism and logic.

The historical context is not either to neglect. Henri Vidal, carries probable word of Jules Verne, expresses his respect for the Hungarian nation (Magyars) and his contempt for the Prussians It is a German? begun again I.
Of not to doubt, Mr Vidal, and I even think that it is it twice, because it must be Prussien.
Eh! It already is too of one! , I exclaimed The attitude of Jules Verne is common to many French of this time when France and Hungary maintain bonds very strong while the resentment towards Germany (which seized the Alsace-Lorraine) is intense.

Faithful to the guiding line of the extraordinary voyages, Jules Verne in this novel, makes us discover Hungary, his history and his monuments.
