The Scientist and the Policy
the Scientist and the Policy ( Wissenschaft als Beruf and Politik als Beruf ) is the French translation of two texts of the German sociologist max Weber, resulting from conferences pronounced in 1919 with the Université of Munich. Their publication in 1959, preceded by a long foreword of Raymond Aron, made much for the French reception of Weber.
These two texts are:
- the Vocation of scientist ( Wissenschaft als Beruf ), in whom treated Weber of the epistemology of science, the judgment and the report/ratio to the values;
- the Vocation of policy ( Politik als Beruf ), in which treated Weber of the political action, of its operation, its legitimation, and gives its famous definition of the State.
