The Science of the Disc-world
the Science of the Disc-world is a book of Terry Pratchett, Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen.
This book treats Earth-world and of its study by members of the Université of Invisible the (in particular Mustrum Ridculle, Cogite Stibon, Rincevent, the librarian, the treasurer and the luggage). A strange and incomprehensible world where, contrary to the Disc-world where the unfolding of the things is mainly with the Narrativium, universe obeyed only the laws of the Physique. A all the more strange world as it is spherical and not in the form of a disc resting on four elephants, resting them-even on a giant tortoise swimming in the universe towards one--know-where. Of course, the reader will understand that the Earth-world is not other than a Métaphore of the Ground.
The structure of the book is particular being a work half novel scientific half Popularization, the odd chapters tell the history taking seat in the Disc-world while the even chapters popularize the scientific concepts approached in the preceding chapter. One can read the book by initially reading all the odd chapters and then the even chapters.
The book has two continuations, which were not translated yet (October 2007) : and .
