The Sandman which passes
the Sandman which passes , COp 13, is a Incidental music composed by Albert Roussel in 1908 for String quartet, Harpe, Hautbois, horn, Flûte and Clarinette.
She was written two years after her First Symphony and is contemporary of her First Sonata for violin and piano as well as her marriage with Blanche Preisach. She is the setting in music of a tale in worms writes by George Jean-Aubry, poet with whom Roussel had already worked (in particular with his Flammes , COp 10.
The first was given by it on December 16th 1908 under the direction of the type-setter.
The work, whose execution requires a little more than one fifteen minutes, comprises four parts:
- Prelude
- Scene 2
- Interlude and scene 4
- final Scene
