History
The name of the village comes from Brice , bishop of Tours at the 4th century.
Inheritance
- the castle of Saint-Brisson, built at the 12th century on a hillock surmounting the Loire (the river since changed course), was besieged by Louis VI. Philippe Auguste remained in 1181 there. It was transformed into private residence which can be visited. It adopts the diagram of a regular hexagon alternatively (incomplete nowadays), with turns round and square. Outsides comprise the reproduction of four functional machines of war of the Moyen-âge (a cerbatane, a mangonneau, a couillard and a pierrière). A room of the castle is reserved for exposures of contemporary art.
