The Rumor
the Rumor is a group of committed Rap composed of four rappeurs ( Ekoué , Hamé , Philippe and Mourad ) and of two DJs ( Soul G and Kool M ).
Biography
Ekoué is titular of a control in Political sciences and continues its DEA with the Université Paris XIII - Villetaneuse. He collaborated, to quote only these two collaborations, with Assassin, as with the piece I remain underground with Sheryo in which he is caught some to the members of the group IAM.
Mohamed Bourokba, known as Hamé , born in 1975, is titular of a DEA of Cinéma.
Their design of the rap and its engagement
the Rumor and the Crew Anfalsh are very close in their reports/ratios with the media, and the design " underground" rep. They besides wrote and interpreted several pieces together. the Rumor is regarded as a group of rap underground and Subversif, wishing to be different in that from the medium from the rap French which, mainly according to them, adapts their texts to the requirements of the radio S, even if it means to lose their subversive character (cf We are the first on… on the album Renewal of tension). Also, they refuse to edulcorate their texts to be diffused on commercial radios such as Skyrock. The Rumor asserts its rap as being rap wire of Immigré S and not of the French rap. Same manner, they select the Média S to which they are addressed, being wary of the large Press agencies, Télévision and radio. Several interviews are thus published on not very media Internet sites. The concerts and the word of mount are their master word as regards promotion.
The Rumor in lawsuit
After the publication of an article, in 2002, in the Fanzine sold with their album the Shade to the measure containing this: “ the reports/ratios of the ministry for the Interior will never give a report on the hundreds of our brothers killed by the police force without none the assassins being worried ”, the Ministère of the Interior (then directed, since May 2002, by Nicolas Sarkozy) decides to carry felt sorry for in July 2002. The other accused remarks, present in the article “Insecurity under the feather of a barbarian” (in the Rumor Magazine n° April 1st, 29th and th 2002) signed by Hamé, are:
-
“(...) through organizations like S.O.S racism, creates of all parts by the capacity PS of the time to contribute to defuse the radicalism of the claims of the Marche of the beurs: the equality of the Droit S becomes the equality in front of the entry of the Nightclubs. Justice for the young people assassinated by the police force disappears under the media colossus Slogan " Do not touch with my pal! " or " Live the Métissage colors! " , etc”
-
“With humiliated humility and shame, with powerful the care to build grids of reading. With exact opposite of handling lasts it reality levels. And it has thick leather. Reality is that to live today in our districts is to be likely more to live situations of economic abandonment, psychological embrittlement, Discrimination to the Embauche, of Précarité of the Logement, regular police humiliations, of bâclée instruction, experiment Carcéral E, absence of horizon, individualistic fold Cadenassé, of temptation to the illicit Débrouille… is to approach to the Prison or the Mort a little more quickly than the others…”
After their Assignment to appear with the Court of Bankruptcy (TGI) for “public slandering towards the national police force”, the Rumor separates from the multinational of the disc EMI (group Virgin) which consequently becomes only distributer of the productions of the label the Rumor Records . The verdict of the lawsuit is returned the 17 December 2004. Let us stress that in November 2004, when the parquet floor presents its Réquisitoire, it is shown very measured; Nicolas Sarkozy was replaced by Dominique de Villepin. The author of the article, Hamé, is released. The parquet floor indeed estimated that the remarks appearing in this article concerned the " Freedom of expression " , continuing so that: “ replaced in their context, these remarks constitute only one critical behaviors abusive, likely to be reproached over the 50 last years the police force at the time of events taken in their globality”. In first authority, the historian of the police force Maurice Rajsfus had recalled that, in the case of the Massacre of October 17th, 1961, there are in a proven way voluntary manslaughters with premeditation.
Nevertheless, the public prosecutor appeals in April 2005 against this judgment (Villepin is always with the orders of the ministry for the Interior). Dominique Tricaud, the lawyer of the Rumor, challenges the judges: “will know that your decision will be political… rather sarkozyste, or rather villepinist”. One questions them on the climate of the time; Ekoué speaks about " hysteria sécuritaire" (in the months preceding the presidential election having led Le Pen to the second round). The climate, nevertheless, changed, in particular after the lodged complaints against several groups of rap by the deputy UMP François Grosdidier. The Juge thus questions the accused parts: “The young person who reads your article, that will think of the police force, which image it will have some? ” The Rumor answers that they are not only listened by young people, and, beginning again, consciously or not, the arguments of the Kabbale quoted by the Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges, Hamé declares: “when one sings a song in front of 500 people, one writes 500 songs, each one retaining what he wants to retain” (the Cabal affirmed that there was a Bible for each reader). In defense of freedom of expression and artistic freedom, it stresses that “It is not the art which makes the history. (…) What is generating of violence, it is not my article: violence exists”. It evokes as these “three or four generations” as each one at the time of côtoyer in the popular quarters, and who all carry their “batch of individual and collective stories on relationship with the police force”: “grandfathers, fathers, big brothers, little brothers”, since the Attack on immigrants S of the years 1960 (with for Paroxysm the October 17th, 1961), until the October 27th, 2005, while passing by the “fatal summers” of the beginning of the year 1980. “We are agents, heirs involuntary to this relationship with the police force, which ensanglante the imaginary one of the districts”.
Lastly, D. Tricaud, the lawyer, reconsiders the collective dimension of the accused writings, informant not to have “not the feeling to support a marginal thesis”, and convenes not only remarks of Saïd Bouamama and Pierre Tévanian (both witnesses in first authority), but also the National advisory commission of the human rights, Amnesty International, a circular of a Prefect of police, and still of other texts where the same remarks appear substantially as those accused. “That the parquet floor makes? They should be punished! We are not alone in the dock! ”, it strikes ironically. Moreover, just behind the dock, among the public, the Movement of immigration and the suburbs, the collective “Let us resist together against police violences and sedentary”, or the collective “all the victims of the revolts of November 2005” is present.
In the first minutes of the lawsuit, when was with the turn of D. Tricaud to put questions with its customer, he questioned Hamé: “can you give us examples of people killed by the police force? ”. Hamé pronounced then, right and vis-a-vis the judges, a list of a score of names: “Malik Oussekine; Makomé (killed on April 6th, 1994, “a ball in the head with touching end whereas he was questioned, handcuffed, with the police station of the Grandes Careers”, in the 18th district of Paris, according to Maurice Rajsfus); Abdelkader Bouziane…”
The ministry for the Interior makes call of the decision of December 17th, 2004 which Hamé release. It appears before the Court of Appeal on May 11th, 2006 before being released on Thursday, June 22, 2006. After these two judgments, the ministry for the interior was provided in cassation.
June 26th, 2007, the prosecuting attorney (Jacques Sheep) of the Court of appeal asks for the cassation of the judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal of Paris on June 22nd, 2006. The cassation is justified according to Jacques Mouton by the fact that the remarks of Mohamed Bourobka (Hamé) " facts determined contained to attack the honor of the police force nationale".
July 11th, 2007, the Court of appeal cancels the decision of release pronounced in favor of Mohamed Bourokba (Hamé) and thus conforms to the conclusions of June 26th, 2007 of prosecuting attorney. The business is returned before the Court of Appeal of Versailles.
