The Rocky Horror Show

The Rocky Horror Show is a British Musical comedy .

Genesis

All starts at the beginning of the Années 1970; in London, the musical comedy Jesus Christ Superstar, of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice is a great success. However, an evening, one of the observers is returned: it is about Richard O' Brien. Having a woman and a child, and having spare step badly of time, it decides to write its own musical comedy. It is based on its tastes and its memories of teenagers, and decides to write a response with the large spectacles which were played then on the London scene at that time: it takes then as major topics of this " anti-spectacle" the sex, B films and rock'n'roll.

The June 16th 1973, it is the first. It is one day of rain, and a few tens of spectators are there, and see Richard O' Brien and Tim Curry, which respectively interprets the roles of Rif Raff and Frank' N Further.

The following year, the spectacle gains the equivalent of one of our Molières for the " Better Spectacle of the year 1974".

A legend is moving. The part will be played 2960 times until in 1980, and continuous being played through the whole world since.

Synopsis

Brad and Janet, two in love, want to re-examine their former professor of sciences before marrying. They thus leave conveys some, the night; but the tire of their car explodes mysteriously with a few meters of a strange castle… Brad and Janet then will require of the assistance of the inhabitants of the castle, all stranger the ones than the others… Thus Brad and Janet meet Doctor Frank' N Further, a bisexual transvestite come from the planet " Transexual" galaxy " Transylvania" , creator of a man perfect, full with muscles but without one gram with brain and hardly knowing to go, named Rocky…

This history is a homage to B films of terror, and is not that the pretext for one is delirious musical… It is completely barge, very rock'n'roll, sexually unslung and irresistibly funny…

Film

In 1975, whereas the spectacle met a great success, Richard O' Brien decided to adapt the film part; the result is the Rocky Horror Picture Show , film projected without interruption from its exit in many cities in the world (Paris, London, New York).

Currently

The spectacle is always played throughout the world, in two different ways: either he is completely interpreted by actors on scene, or the film is projected, and of the actors appear in front of the screen for rejouer certain scenes worships of film or to add counterparts or gestures with film (for example, at the time of the credits, sung by a large mouth with the red lips and the white teeth, it is always of good tone that somebody (actor or even spectator) rises and undertakes to rub the large teeth on the screen with a brush…).

These services are in general not like simple spectacles: the fans have habit to also make the spectacle in the room… Thus, at the time of the scene of the marriage, the spectators launch out rice above; at the time of the storm, the spectators protect the head with a newspaper, just like the heroes, but launch out also water on the head… It is also one of the elements which makes the worship of Rocky Horror Show.
