the Rochefort-on-Loire is a common French, located in the department of Maine-et-Loire and the area Pays of the Loire.
Geography
In the middle of the Anjou, the commune of the Rochefort-on-Loire is articulated around two principal reliefs: a part is on the valley of the the Loire (left bank), between this river (northern limit) and Louet (arm of the Loire), and another part on the slopes.Rochefort is an agricultural and wine commune (Vignoble of Thatch), an perish-urban residential place and a tourist center.
Its two principal attractions are a beach at the edge of the Louet (the Loire), and a strongly established vine growing.
History
Old name: Roca Forti
They is lower, in the valley, than constituted the village of origin. This village was protected by three headlands: Rupes Fortis (Holy Offange), Rocha de Wascognia (St-Symphorien) and Dieusie (Dieuzy).
Another part of the village developed gradually higher, towards the strong slope of the slope. The regular floods of the valley were right of the initial village at the end of the wars of religion.

Administration
The Rochefort-on-Loire belongs to the canton of Chalonnes (9 km) and of the Arrondissement of Angers (20 km).The town hall is located Place of the Town hall, 49190 Rochefort on the Loire.
The public school was built in 1870, and was integrated into the town hall in a vast building.
There is no college in Rochefort. The children of the commune go for the majority to the Chalonnes-on-Loire.
There exists also a private school.

Places and monuments
Three castles protected the initial city from Rochefort: Dieuzy (12th century), Holy Offange (13th century) and St Symphorien. The ruins of the castle of Saint Offange are worth visiting.The bell-tower of the Church Co.-Cross (16th century) is that of this initial city which was dismounted then gone up on its current site.
Rochefort has capacities of reception (camp-site, hotel, lodgings), several trade (grocer, bakeries, butchery and pork-butchery, pharmacy,…), of the sporting infrastructures (swimming pool, stage, tennis,…), and of external spaces (sand beach, pond and surface of picnic).
One of the other assets of the Rochefort-on-Loire east its guinguette. It is located just at the edge of Louet within a framework very sympathetic nerve. One finds regional specialities of course there, but also of musical animations like concerts, accordion, jazz manouche…
There exists also a company of Boule of fort. True cultural phenomenon in Anjou, this play goes back to the 18th century.
During all of summer of the demonstrations are organized on the commune: fires of St Jean, contest of the song, fireworks, etc…
Since 1941, it is the city of the poets, known as “the school of Rochefort”, rested by the poet Jean Bouhier and the painter Pierre Penon, joined by Rene-Guy Cadou, Luc Bérimont and more than one hundred others.
To have also from Rochefort to the Chalonnes-on-Loire the Cornice Angevine: sinuous road with splendid panoramas on the Loire Valley. With the Long Hedge, old mining village classified, table of orientation towards the Loire Valley.
