The Roadway (Neuweg)

the Roadway or Neuweg is old a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace.
The commune was removed in 1830 and is divided today into three. Langenhäuser, Hoberhätiser and Dreihäuser constitutes the district locality Neuweg of Saint-Louis, Stutz became Bartenheim-The-Roadway , commune of Bartenheim and Richardshäuser (Richardshaeuser), Loechlé and Schäferhof (Schaeferhof) is localities of the commune of Kembs.

Roman epoch: Parallel to the the Rhine a road connecting Basle to Strasbourg is traced with the use of the Roman mails. Its layout on the Table of Peutinger passes by Augst, Arialbinum, Cambete (Kembs) to join Argentorate (Strasbourg).

1568 : It is for the first time mention of Newen Weg (the new roadway) in Urbar of Landser. The roadway maintained by Basle leads to its possession of Michelfelden .

16th century: The Huguenot S French refugees in Basle found textile industries there. Several inns, halts for the many harnessed cars of goods appear along the new roadway.

17th century: Birth of a series of hamlets around these inns of which that of the Roadway and Saint-Louis.

18th century: Towards 1700 the parochial files of Village-Nine, mention for the first time the hamlet of Via Nova , attached to Blotzheim. Birth of the commune independent of Neuweg or the Roadway starting from all seven hamlet dispersed (Langenhäuser, Hoberhätiser, Dreihäuser, Stutz, Richardshäuser, Loechlé and Schäferhof) between Saint-Louis and Kembs.

1830 : May 25th by ordinance of the king Charles X, the Prefect of the Département of Haut-Rhin removes the commune of Neuweg or the Roadway of the district of Altkirch and divides its territory into three portions joined together with the communes of Blotzheim, Bartenheim and Kembs.

1853 : Construction under Napoleon III of the royal Pisciculture on the feudal possession of Blotzheim, currently located in the Natural reserve of the small Alsatian Camargue.

1880 : A census of Blotzheim mentions a total 53 houses and 320 inhabitants for the possession of the Roadway is more of the tenth of the total of the city.

1939 : September 1st, the Alsace is evacuated. The population of Blotzheim-the-Roadway finds asylum in the department of the Landes.

1958 : March 6th by decree of the Council of State, Blotzheim it Chaussée is attached to the commune of Saint-Louis under the name of Saint-Louis-the-Roadway. the Roadway then represents one the third of the population of Blotzheim is approximately 981 inhabitants and approximately a third of the surface of its grounds.
