The River Hope

the River Hope is a Feuilleton televised French in 9 90 minutes episodes, carried out by Josée Dayan according to the novel of Christian Signol and diffused starting from September 4th, 1995 on television on France 2.

Synopsis

1832, Périgord: Benjamin and Marie are two friends of childhood. The father of Benjamin, gabardier, conduit of the barges, kinds of boats, for goods transport on the the Dordogne.

One day he said to his son: “For your thirteen years, I will take you along. ” This promise is held and Benjamin will become gabardier like his father. But it is necessary to be wary of everyone and also of that for which they live: the Dordogne.

To make this trade was the dream of Benjamin, but this dream couldn't be transformed into nightmare? The contentions with the merchants and the gabardiers are finished sometimes well badly. And will it be able to remain faithful to his/her Marie friend in spite of its go secret with Emeline Lombard, girl of the commercial rich person on which they depend?

Comments

In spite of a masterly interpretation and a solid scenario due to the best-seller of Christan Signol, the River Hope did not have discounted success, gathering hardly 5,5 million spectators each evening on France 2, undoubtedly caused by an autumnal, rare diffusion for a Saga of the summer.

However, this saga will be an international success and Josée Dayan will confirm its talent later thanks to the Count of Monte Cristo and with the Misérables on the concurrent chain TF1.
