The Residents

All that is told on the history of The Residents, is only assumption, mythology and presumptions, the facts not being able to be checked nor really confirmed, by anyone. Very secret and ignored, the obscure group is however often referred to.

The Residents is a group created in 1966, of which the formation remains a mystery well kept, the group appearing - seldom out of smoking and with large masks in the shape of eye.

The Residents is a concept, which wants that the popular music is not only myth. The Residents make known themselves in 1974 by their album Meet the Residents by pastichant the legendary photograph which decorated the Meet the Beatles! of the four of Liverpool.

In 1979, Matt Groening, that which later was going to become the famous creator of " The Simpsons ", was in particular engaged by the W.E.I.R.D. (We Endorse In Residents Deification) in order to write a “biography” of the group. In this one, one can learn a multitude there from more mythical anecdotes all the ones than the others.

If one trusts the document of Groening, The Residents would have recorded the album Not Available in the intention acknowledged not to make known it with the general public until they forget it.

It is not thus astonishing to intend to say things as what the group of John Lennon was The Residents at the time of their rest period. Their music, very far from the beaten paths will never leave the listener without reaction. Their major albums are The Third Reich' N Roll , Duck Stab , Not Available , Eskimo , and The Commercial Album .

In 1995, they take part in the creation of the play Bad Day one the Midway .
