The Red Point

the Red Point is a district of the 8 {{E}} district of Marseilles (Canton of Marseilles it Point-Red), located at the South of the city between Hurdy-gurdy-Vault and Montredon. The port of the Red Point is the largest marina of Marseilles. Built between 1964 and 1972, it offers 1.800 places to quay and of many nautical activities: veil, diving, oar of sea, kayaks or Polynesian dugout.

The beach of the Red Point, sand beach, sheltered well dominant winds is very popular. The other places of bathe, while going towards Montredon are the Bath of the Ladies and small the beaches of the Handle of Phocéens (known as " shelter-Côtier"), of the Handle of Sablettes (known as " of Colombet") and of the Good Breeze (so called " Verrerie" , or " at Dédé").

Many restaurants, pubs, coffees and clubs make an animated district of the city of it. The National school of the Merchant navy (" the hydro") is installed in the district.

Toponymy

The name " Point Rouge" would come from the color of the ground of small cliffs between the Red Point and the Madrague of Montredon.
