The goat of the Pyrenees is a French Race Caprin E originating in the the Pyrenees to long hairs, brown or black, sometimes white.

It belongs to the races now protected because it became rare. The Pyrenean one is of intermediate size: 75 to 85 cm with the garrot for a weight of 50 kg. Traditionally, these goats were nourished the winter in the valley with hay and conduits in mountain pasture the summer. The system of production was mixed: they nursed their chevraux, (which were sold when they reached 15 kg), and ensuites milked (production from 0.5 to 1 liter per day without complement). Milk was mixed with cow's milk to manufacture a traditional cheese.
