The Provincial one (Marivaux)
Provincial the is a Comédie in a act and Prose of Marivaux, played for the first time at the castle of Berny in 1750 and published for the first time in the Mercure de France of March 1757.
This part, made up at one time when one played everywhere the comedy of company, was it, with the faithful Woman , at the request of the count de Clermont, wire of the large Cop, which had been in turn abbot and general, man of spirit which had imagination, in 1754, to be made receive member of the French Academy. As one often played the comedy with his castles of the Rocket and Berny, he asked some small new parts Marivaux which composed the faithful Woman and Provincial the .
Last work published by Marivaux, this part amusing with comic a little large was regarded a long time as lost. It was however found partly in a handwritten collection of roles preserved at the Bibliothèque of the Arsenal.

History
Become Mrs Thibaudière, the Trichet widow, is provincial coldly unloaded in Paris in company of its following Cathos, initially to touch an amount of money which is due for him, then to be formed with the good mannerss. As the sum which it received is enough rondelette, it does not miss admirers, willing at the same time to make fun of it and to adapt its good. A former maidservant become widowed, and who is made call Mrs Lépine, gets along to this end with an alleged knight to remove the provincial one from whole or part of her ecus. One persuades with this one to take the title of marchioness and to give oneself for lover the knight, who will immediately put it at the mode. It is not obliged to like it, it is enough that it makes seeming. The knight addresses to him with burns-pourpoint declarations and an impertinent letter. The alleged knight is a crook, and the unknown lady, a intrigante with his pledges. The intrigants from go away, the lady keeps its money and gives up acquiring the good mannerss.
