According to a recent survey of NADbank, the daily assistantship of the Province was on average of 520.100 in week, making of him the newspaper more read as a Colombia-British. Daily pulling is of 167.746 specimens per day on average (given December 31st 2001).
The Province recently was the object of criticism because of the decline of its intellectual attraction and its shameless sensationnalism. The preponderance of reports on surface subjects such as the fires, the crime and the small scandals form the base of these criticisms.
History
In 1923, the Southam family buys The Province . In 1945, the printers of the newspaper declare the strike. Up to that point, The Province had been the newspaper more sold in Vancouver, in advance on the Vancouver Sun and the News Herald . Because of this six weeks strike, it loses an important portion of its market share, falling in third place. In 1957, The Province and the Vancouver Sun are sold in Pacific Close Limited which belonged jointly to the two companies.
