The Progress of the Sum

the Progress of the Sum was a Journal regional newspaper French, diffused in the Somme.

Founded by Rene Goblet (inter alia), it was rather marked on the left, socialist obedience, whereas its competitor, the Newspaper of Amiens , was renamed the Echo of the Sum , represented a more preserving sensitivity of catholic inspiration.

Like its rival, the Progress of the Sum changed title and took the name of new Picardy .

After the Release, these two principal representatives of the written press in the department amalgamated to give rise to the Picardy Courrier in October 1944.

Special publications

  • the Progress of the Sum published about 1937 a “Newspaper Magazine” richly illustrated photographs black and white (alas not always printed with sufficient clearness) giving a progress report on the local tourist characteristics. Pierre Dubois wrote the texts of this “Panorama of the " Picard" country; in the middle of the 20th Century”, which was diffused on a not identified date (between 1937 and 1939), at the cost of 3,50 Francs (format 43,5 cm X 59 cm), and gathering 48 pages (divided into 3 parts called books ).
