Geography
Ousson on the Loire is a village of the Loiret located at the edge of the the Loire. The center of the village is slightly elevated compared to the course of the river what enables him to be with the shelter the most important risings.
The name of Ousson comes from the Latin word osculum meaning the small mouth. This name indicates doubtless the brook which is thrown in the Loire on the level of the commune (Ousson). At the end of the Life century, the name became Oscel (it is the oldest preserved written form), then Ussum in 1228, Os in 1292 and finally Ousson starting from the medium of the XVe century. Since 1956, official name is Ousson on the Loire.
