The Offspring

The Offspring is a group of Punk rock'n'roll California N, formed with Orange County close to Los Angeles in 1987. It is one of the pioneers of the punk Californian rock'n'roll with the exit of the album Smash in 1994.

Former members

Atom Willard (2003 - 2007): Beater of The Offspring , for the rounds of 2003 to 2007 Official announcement of the departure of the group on the official site of the offspring on July 27th with 19:50 French hour. Atom decides to devote its career pro with Angels And Airwaves . It remains in good terms with the group.
X-13 (1998-2005) - Christophe Higgins : voice-over, percussion, third Guitare It left the group for its family life in 2005.
Ron Welty (1987 - 2003) - Ronald Welty : Old Beater. It left the group in 2003 after more than 15 years of career with The Offspring. Born the 1971.
Josh Freese (2003): Old beater. It replaced urgently Ron Welty after its departure for the recording of Splinter. Beater of the Vandals
James Lilja (1985 - 1987): Ca was not really a member of the offspring but it was the Batteur of Manic Subsidal , the group of origin of the offspring, and it is him which gave to the group its current name, according to a film of horror.

Important dates

1984: Formation of Maniac Substitual with Dexter (Bryan Keith Holland) and Greg K. (Gregory Kriesel). They are then 19 years old.
1985: Noodles (K. Wasserman) joined the group (it was taken in the group because it had the age to buy beer, having then more than 21 years, (majority in certain states of the United States), like James Lilja, the very first beater, which leaves the group at the beginning of 1987 to continue its studies in medicine.
1987: Creation of the group THE OFFSPRING (name given by James Lilja, certainly according to a film of horror of the same title). Ron Welty joined the group after the departure of James.
1989: First album studio: the offspring . First rounds.
1990: Dexter, 22 years old, becomes father of a girl with her ex woman which died little of time after the birth of their daughter. He married with Kristine Luna on August 21st, 1995.
Noodles, 35 years old, also becomes father him of a girl Chelsea Nicole. He had married in 1998 with Jackie Patrice on February 14th.
1992: (October 16th) Exit of the second album: Ignition . Beginning of success with the United States. First fans.
1993: Ron Welty, the beater becomes father of a boy.
1994: (April 8th) Exit of Smash , their third album. To date, with 14 million copies, Smash is the album published at an independent recording company (Epitaph) more sold with the world. Beginning of the success of The Offspring in Europe.
1997: (February 4th) Exit of Ixnay one the Hombre , which is a more moderate success but all the same very appreciated by the fans.
1998: (November 17th) Exit of Americana , which is an immense success (10 million sold copies) but which alienated many fans who show the group to take a commercial turn. This album leaves on a new label, Columbia Records (Sony), where the group took refuge after a conflict with Epitaph.
1999: Greg K. becomes father in his turn of a son (“Michael”). Participations of the group in Woodstock of 1999.
2000: (November 14th) Exit of Conspiracy off One , certified disc of platinum.
2003: Ron Welty, the beater, leaves the group after more than 15 years in full recording of a new album. Josh Freese is called urgently to finish the recording of the album, Splinter , which leaves to the end of the year (December 2nd).
2004: Atom Willard joined the group to replace Ron. The Offspring carries out a world tour (Warped turn) with him.
2005: Exit of the " Greatest hits". The Offspring enters in studio at the end of the year for their next album.
2005: The Offspring carries out a great round in the world. They also take part in the Vans Warped Tours with several other groups punk Skate.
Atom Willard joined the group Angels And Airwaves. It does not leave the group The Offspring for as much.
2007: After several carryforwards, the coming out date left the 8th opus is announced for the end of the year (Automne). The album is produced by Bob Rock. Atom leaves officially the group and is seen replaced by Pete Parada for the rounds (starting from Summersonic Festival) 2 title for the album are confirmed: " Hammerhead" and " Takes Me Nowhere".

1 pennies the label Nemesis record, re-recorded under the label Nitro Records

The Offspring to date remains the group having sold the most disc on an independent label for the album Smash (1994) on the label Epitaph. They sold 14 million specimens in the whole world.

The Offspring was devoted to several different kinds of music and not that to the punk one. Thus, one can notice in his albums, of the songs of Ska, Rock and power-rock'n'roll with sometimes of the whimsical final improvements (Trompette S, FX S, various percussion S, etc).

I' L Be waiting 7" - 1986: left by Black Label Records, composed of 2 titles (" I' L Be waiting" and " Blackball"), it is one of the most courted objects. Republished in 1996 by fans.
S/T - 1989: first album left out of vinyl (5000 specimens) by Nemesis Records. Known for its small pocket drawn by Hard Marc (the famous " guitar-alien"), 11 titles (identical to the republication of 1995 on Nitro Records), article of collection very snuffed.
Baghdad 7" - 1991: second 7" of The Offspring, on Nemesis Records (limited to 3000 specimens), contains 4 titles (" Get it right" , " Hey Joe " - Taken again of Jimi Hendrix, " Baghdad" and " The Blurb")
