The Number

the Number is a French-speaking group Rock formed with Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 2002. The members of the formation are originating in Quebec and Montreal. Two of the members of the group, Dynamite Roy and Gourmet Delight, were members of the mythical punk formation of Quebec, the Flying Secretaries. Composed experienced musicians, the Number attracts the praises upon the departure, by the quality of their first album éponyme, but especially for their impressive scenic presences, in particular that of the leader, Ludwig Wax. Invited by the radio WFMU of New York at the end of 2002, they will become the first French-speaking group to at the head place an album of signal 30 of this American station, in January 2003.

In 2004, criticisms are even more eulogistic for the second album, recorded with Toronto and produced by a legend of the Canadian independent rock'n'roll, Ian Blurton.

Put aside a mini-round in the north of the the United States in spring, an appearance with the Francofolies of Montreal a few weeks later, and the first part of the New York Frauds with the Festival of summer of Quebec, the group was put in hiatus in 2005. Indeed, Ludwig Wax, employed by a ONG in Africa, chose to leave the country during several months. Meanwhile, the bass player Gourmet Delight occurs on scene in the group of Sunny Duval.

The Number meets however joined together in at the beginning of 2006, with some changes of personnel: Pat Sayers of Tricky Woo holds the battery, and the new guitarist is Jean Bélanger of Bionic. The group occurred in France, where the second album, Scénario catastrophe has just been launched.
