The New Pornographers
The New Pornographers is a group independent Rock mainly Canadian, formed in 1997 in Vancouver (province of the Colombia-British in the south-west of Canada). Their sound is influenced by other groups, like The Cars or Cheap Trick, but their songs have more harmonic and melody complexity. The type-setter principal, Carl Newman, known as that its influences are Burt Bacharach, Jim Webb and Brian Wilson.
The group left four albums until now: Farmhouse Romantic , (2000), Electric Version (2003), Twin Cinema (2005) and Challengers (2007).
The members of the group are Daniel Bejar, Kathryn Calder, Neko Case, John Collins, Kurt Dahle, Todd Fancey, Carl Newman and Blaine Thurier.
The name of the group would come from a quotation of Jimmy Swaggart, which called the music " the news pornographie" : " the new pornography".
