The Monthureux-on-Saone
the Monthureux-on-Saone is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.
Its inhabitants is called Monthurolais.
Geography
History
The name Monthureux comes from low-Latin monasteriolum who means monastery. To the 14th century, one said Monstreuil.; Blasonnement:
- Of azure, with three rhombuses of gold, ordered 2 - 1 and responsible for a M ancient of Mouths.
- They are the weapons of Guillaume, Lord de Monstreuil, whom one can already see on a seal of 1321.
Curiosities
Nowadays the convent of Monthureux still remains, sold with the national goods with the Révolution, there sheltered during nearly four centuries a community of monks tiercelins. It is visible today at the end of the alley of the Monks (along secondary road 460).
