the man who did not want to die is an album of Cartoon, the forty-eighth of the series the adventures of Spirou and Fantasio.

Complete summary

Since the death of his/her uncle Tanzafio (cf Spirou and the heirs ) Fantasio, tries to give again life at its house with the abandonment. At the time of one of its visits, he discovers that the family villa is used as refuge with his/her cousin Zantafio and his henchmen who fear the reprisals of the Russian Maffia (cf Spirou in Moscow ). Those sequestered a vagrant who proves to be Tanzafio, that everyone believed dead and which, thanks to a water reserve of youth, became centenary.

Zantafio succeeds in putting the hand on a plan which indicates where to find the source of this magic potion and leaves to its research in the jungle Guaracha. Spirou, Fantasio and Tanzafio follows it closely. Engage the slowest continuation of the cartoon, in the sailing ship, on the Atlantic Ocean.

In Guaracha, Zantafio tries to rejoin with its cause of the peasants without ground, ordered by Selvo, a mongrel hispano-Indian while Spirou saves the life of the leader of a group of rebellious natives, Katxina. The revolt prepares among the natives who feel oppressed by the peasants. In filigrees of this fight takes shape the dilemma of Katxina and Selvo which prefer to forget the feelings that they tests one towards the other with the profit of their opinons political. Taken in the middle of the combat, Zantafio, hoping to find the source of youth, is inserted in the jungle with Selvo. Tanzafio guides Spirou, Fantasio and Katxina in order to stop the progression of its harmful nephew. In the continuation Katxina and Selvo are killed, but Spirou, helped by Tanzafio which is made kill in its turn, arrives to ressusciter the couple guarachien while plunging it in the waters of youth fountain.

Zantafio manages to flee with its assistants by carrying with him a few liters of a liquid which lost its magic.

The party taken of the authors

As on the preceding album, the very tight cutting of boards emphasizes the dynamism of the continuations.

The authors offer to the reader an interesting point of view on the problem of the country without ground and the native domination of of Latin America. The true oppressors are the successive governments which did not try to improve quality of life of the two communities.
