The railway line Paris - Mans crosses the Magnifying glass, it thus connecting by the train in Paris Montparnasse, Chartres and Mans.
History
June 17th, 1944, at the beginning of evening, the downtown area is bombarded wrongly by 7 allied bombers which miss the target envisaged, a German gasoline depot. The assessment is heavy: 73 people are killed, whose mayor and more than 100 are wounded, 92 buildings are destroyed, 83 became uninhabitable and approximately 250 are damaged. The Magnifying glass became the city more the disaster victim of the second world war of the department and will be decorated with the Military Cross on November 11th, 1948.

Birth of
Ferdinand Hédiard with the Magnifying glass, on February 9th, 1832.
Later, Ferdinand is installed with the foot of the statue of Louis XIV on the Place of the Victories with
Paris. By pushing its cart in the streets of Paris, it makes taste its tropical fruits with the intrigued passers by.
In 1880 Ferdinand Hédiard elects residence with the 21, Place de la Madeleine, which became and is always the flagship d' Hédiard.
The new “Counter of the colonies and Algeria” is a true exotic souk.
