Its inhabitants is called Méens.

History

the Mée-on-Seine is mentioned for the first time under the term “Farmhouse” in 1253, term derived from frank “the Mansus”. It did not contain whereas a farm, a farmhouse.

The farm of Mée was closed in the Seventies; one can still see the pillars at the Northern entry of them Is city, in a small park. The Allée from the Sheep-fold is the trace of a place where then came to feed the sheep.

The city knew a spectacular growth since the end of the Second world war, and is divided today into 4 districts, Mée Village, Plein Sky, Croix White, Courtilleraies.

Mée village

Mée village is the historical quarters also, traditionally called “Mée Old man” by his inhabitants. One can see an old Gothic church still there, close to the town hall.

Old Station of Mée which was in this district (where one can still see an old metal footbridge), was moved in the more recent district of Courtilleraies.

The town hall is located in this district in the middle of a small park raised with water part.

The white Cross

District more recent than the old man Mée, a church more modern Catholique was built there, as well as a shopping mall, various sports complexes, many schools, the academy municpale of music, the arts center.

The Farmhouse is a cultural complex including library and general-purpose theater.

Beside the Farmhouse, a large green chimney exceeds geothermic center which makes it possible to heat in a way relativiement ecological a good part of the district since the beginning of the Eighties, as well as the district of Courtilleraies.

Moreover, in 2007, college ELSA TRIPLET of this district, was completely rebuilt to make it in conformity with the current standards. Old construction dated from the Sixties and only met very nsuffisamment the fire protection standards.

Full sky

The district of Full Sky is located between Melun and “ penetrating the ”, peripheral of the agglomeration melunaise, and is symbolized by its tower of dwelling, visible with far.

This district is smallest of the districts of Mée on the Seine. It includes/understands all the same a school complex (nursery school & primary, a medical house and a center shopping with the feet of the tower

Courtilleraies

The most recent district of the city builds in the Années 1980 and 90, it acceuille the new station, a shopping mall, a hall of exposure and a church Protestante Baptiste.

  • Living room of Lyve, of the name of a small river which passes between the cemetery and the town hall and throws in the the Seine, is an annual Art gallery. It takes place in the arts center of the new districts.
