the Lord of the Rings is a Board game of plate of the co-operative type, created by Reiner Knizia and published in French language by Tilsit in 2001.

The players incarnate there the Hobbit S Frodon, Sam, Pippin, Merry and the Large, drawn from the work of Tolkien. Their goal is to destroy the Single Anneau by avoiding the many traps on their road and while benefitting the maximum of the assistances to their provision. It is about a play of co-operation, i.e. the players do not play the ones against the others but the ones with the others.

On the course of principal play, a line made up of 16 boxes in range of the white towards the black, represents the projection towards darkness. The Hobbit S start on the white and Sauron on the black. If a player meets Sauron, he dies.

To conclude their search, the players will have to achieve 7 searches: Cul-de-sac, Fondcombe, Moria, Lothlórien, the Pit of Helm, the cave of Arachne and the Mordor.

A first extension integrates two complementary searches: Bree and the Isengard, accompanied by charts of Enemies complicating gives it. Two other extensions are then appeared, named “Sauron” and “Battle fields”.
