the Lion in winter (The Lion in Winter) is a British film of Anthony Harvey left in 1968. It acts in the beginning of a play written by James Goldman. A remake of film was also carried out for television in 2003 by Andrei Konchalovsky.

Synopsis

Outburst of intrigues (fictionalized) around the problem of the succession of Henri II of England at the 12th century. One is at the court of the Château of Chinon, in period of Christmas 1183. Aliénor of Aquitaine, after several years of imprisonment by her husband Henri II, is delivered by this last in order to study together which of their three sons would be the ideal successor with the throne of England. The decision will prove to be difficult taking into account the stake and of the dissensions which exist in the family. Are present: the prince Richard (future Lion-hearted), the duke Geoffroy II of Brittany and the prince Jean (future Jean without Ground). Is also present the king Philippe II of France '' alias '' Philippe Auguste and his half-sister Adèle of France '' alias '' Alix, two children of Louis VII of France (ex-husband of Aliénor, but who do not come from their bed). Alix is promised in marriage to Richard but, in reality, it is the mistress of the king Henri and, so also has claims with the throne…
