History
Smoothing iron wants to prevent the marriage of its mistress because it will restrict the influence which she exerts on her. Happily for it, sighing it is timid and unceasingly hesitant. Like, moreover, one clause of a legacy which to him was done obliges it to pay: 200000 francs if he marries the countess, it is very difficult for him to decide to jump the step and it would like well that Lisette makes this consent in its place. Smoothing iron starts by refusing before accepting, but while endeavouring to throw the ridiculous one on sighing startled. The countess, as for it, shares the feeling of the maidservant by no means, and in a conversation which it has with the marquis, it makes all its efforts to lead it to say to him: I love you. It leads it until edge of consent and, whereas it believes that it will speak, it changes conversation suddenly. When it brings back it on the ground, he ventures a half-declaration. The countess appearing astonished, it takes that for anger and falls down in the banalities. Hortense, with which will return them: 200000 francs if he marries the countess, comes to claim the legacy or its hand to him. He states himself ready to marry it because there is for him only one woman in the world, the countess. Since she refuses it, he will marry which one will want. Like this answer does not make the deal of anybody, Hortense, the countess, Lisette itself, which sees well that its mistress is decided, everyone meets to push the marquis to formulate his request. He repeats with the countess that he likes it; but since she hates it, there is nothing to make. - I do not hate you, I never said it to you. - It is just like. - You like to me, that is to say; did you ever ask me what I think? - What good is it? I know your answer, you will say to me: Not. - But put the question. - Is; I, that do you think about it like you? - Eh well! I am well ease. - Ah! exclaims the upset marquis. He pays with happiness them: 200000 francs, and everyone is satisfied.
