Synopsis

Wrongfully condemned by the Martial Court, the general Eugene R. Irwin of the U.S. Army (Robert Redford) is held responsible for died for eight soldiers. the 0 continuation of that, it must purge a sorrow in a military prison of high security called the Castle. Colonel Winter, who directs this detention center, takes care that Irwin is not entitled to any privilege whatever it is. At the great astonishment of this last, the other prisoners put themselves to respect it and to greet it as a soldier with his general would do it, and this, even if its rank fell in disuse. Winter sees red: safeties are formally prohibited in its penitentiary. With the assistance of all his/her companions of cell, Irwin will set up its own army to organize a true insurrection and to trap the corrupted director of the Prison. Its army will become disciplined and repectée, a soldier will remain always a soldier.
