Comments

In 1981, this film obtains 10 César with of which the best film, better realizer, better actor and actress and better scenario for Truffaut associated with Suzanne Schiffman

The richest film and most accomplished of Truffaut, it approaches many topics: German occupation, upheavals and the attitudes which it involve, resonances between the real life and the theatrical fiction and as in Fahrenheit 451 mechanisms of defense against oppression and the obscurantism. The Homosexualité male and female is approached with Tolérance. The central triangle, a woman and two men (as in Jules and Jim ) is saved by the intelligence and creation.

Anecdotes

The film includes/understands many references to the French cultural topicality of the Années 1940. The successive arrests of the character incarnated by Jean Poiret are very freely inspired by the vexations of Sacha Guitry. The scene where the character of Gerard Depardieu strikes the critic of I am everywhere is drawn from an incident which opposed Jean Marais and Alain Laubreaux.
