Synopsis
Life of Pu Yi, last emperor of China, then Mandchoukouo. The followed period goes from 1908 to 1967 (year of died of the ex-emperor).In 1908, on the order of the empress dowager of China Cixi about to die, Pu Yi, a three year old child, is removed with his/her mother in order to become emperor. But three years after its accession with the throne, the republic is proclaimed. Pu Yi is authorized to preserve its title which is not from now on any more that one symbol, but is condemned to remain in the prohibited Cité, where it will grow, surrounded by its courtiers, by being unaware of all the outside world. The Japanese will place it as emperor of the Mandchoukouo. It will be rehabilitated during the mode Maoist. After 10 years of internment it will be released and will become, until its death, gardener of the town of Beijing.
