The Large Sophie

the Large Sophie , born the July 18th 1969 with Port-de-Bouc, is a singer French compositrice , which started in the middle of the Années 1990 in the alternative medium Paris IEN.

Biography

The Large Sophie lived all her youth with Port-de-Bouc close to Marseilles. She creates the “kitchen music”, that she defines as “a movement of the middle of the Nineties which regards the musical activity as not very different from any other daily task”. She bathes in the musical medium as of her more young age. At thirteen years, it assembles its first group with her brother and his neighbor. Its instrument of predilection is the guitar.

It starts to write and compose, whereas it follows courses to the Art schools to Marseilles. She plays her pieces in the terraces and the restaurants. Then it goes up to Paris and meets the associative medium in particular Life Live in the Bar. With this association, the Large Sophie, accompanied by her guitar and her large case, occurs in bars (“Wait & see”, “the archipelago”…) and of many small rooms.

Its influences extend from Jacques Dutronc with Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. In 1996, it is invited to the Festival of the Francofolies of the La Rochelle. The following year, it leaves its first album the Large Sophie increases and occurs in the room of the De luxe hotel. In 2001, accompanied musicians, it leaves his second opus, the Amulet . This title runs out with more 35.000 specimens, grace in particular to individual the Martin .

The May 11th 2004, the Large Sophie leaves its third album, And if it were me , which is worth to him its first victory of the music in 2005 (revelation scene). With individual the Of Courage and One knew , the album exceeds the 130.000 sales. It records also a duet with Lee Hazlewood, which it regards as “one of the most beautiful voices of the world”. Leather and Lace is a Franco-English duet for which the Large Sophie adapted the text.

After having taken part in the disc One would say Nino , in homage to the singer Nino Ferrer, the singer returns in the vats in October 2005 with an album entitled the Continuation .
