The Large Charles
the Large Charles is a Téléfilm in two parts, writing and carried out by Bernard Stora and diffused on France 2 the 27 and March 28th 2006.
Synopsis
The telefilm tells the history of Charles de Gaulle, initially eminent actor of the release of France, accommodated in triumph in released Paris. It returns to him to direct the government and to rectify the country.Hoping to cause a shock and to obtain a popular Plebiscite which would place it above the sterile politicking fray, he resigns the January 20th 1946.
Nothing however occurs, and begins for the General a crossing from the 12 year old desert.
The film tells how he saw this phase and the events which will enable him to leave there and to become the promoter of the Ve République and its first president.
Work thus concentrates primarily over the period 1946-1958 by the means of a succession of moments chosen between the Release (De Gaulle is chief of the Provisional government) and its return to the capacity (he is the last president of the Council of IVe République but not yet the first president of the Ve République).
One can quote for example: its withdrawal of the political life in 1946, the foundation of the RPF, the Algerian question, context and causes of its return in 1958, for example. Without forgetting some " épisodes" more private. The telefilm nevertheless is enamelled several flashbacks over the period 1940-1944: De Gaulle taking the command of her division of armoured tanks in May 1940, the slides of the IIIe failing Republic, the meetings with Churchill, Giraud, Roosevelt…
