Comments
In the familiar English language (especially in the United States), instead of saying certain words taboos more or less, one mentions only the first letter of it. For example, one speaks about the “F Word” (“the word out of F”) to say “fuck”, inter alia. As for the “L Word”, it is a manner of saying “coils” or “lesbian”. In this case, “The L Word” represents these two ideas: love and female homosexuality. To note that each episode of the series has as a title a word beginning with the letter “L”.
Comedy of soft-bitter manners, The L Word does not owe its success that with its set of themes “lesbian” but well, like all the good recent American televised series, with the care with which its characters are written and interpreted, and with their evolution in time. The distribution is mainly made up of young actresses to the careers rather not very marked but talented, as Mia Kirshner which had marked the spirits during an appearance in the series 24 hours stopwatch and of which the character of Jenny, very complex, reached a great dramatic intensity.
Among the actresses of the series one counts to also two returning , half-sisters with the screen, WFP Grier, old star of the cinema of Blaxploitation with his characters of Coffy or Jackie Brown, and Jennifer Beals, the heroin of the film Flashdance .
Among the authors of the series appear, in addition to the creative one of the series Ilene Chaiken, Guinevere Turner ( Go Fish , American Psycho ), Pink Troche ( Go Fish , Six feet under ground ), and LISA Cholodenko ( High Art ).
The series The L Word will know a fifth season of 12 episodes which will be turned during the summer 2007 for a diffusion envisaged in January 2008.
