The Killers

The Killers is a group of American Rock formed in 2002 and originating in Las Vegas. The music of Killers is primarily based on British influences and the music of the the Eighties, particularly the music New wave. Sometimes, Brandon Flowers sings besides with a false English accent. Their first album, Hot Fuss which revealed them, left in 2004.

Biography

In 2001, Brandon Flowers is given up by its first group, Blush Response, after its refusal to follow the remainder of the team to Los Angeles. After its departure, Flowers discovers advertisement in Las Vegas Weekly emanating of future Guitarist David Keuning, which proposes to form a group whose influences would be Oasis, The Cure, New Order, or The Smiths. The two men meet, get along quickly and decide to find a Batteur and a Bassiste to supplement the formation. After many hearings, Ronnie Vannucci and Mark Stoermer are selected to fulfill these roles. The group draws its name from a Nouvelle of the American writer Ernest Hemingway, The Killers , this name appearing moreover on the battery of a fictitious group put in scene in a Clip of New Order ( Crystal ).

Before belonging to the group, the four musicians followed varied enough occupations: Flowers, having left the college, was Groom with the Gold Coast Hotel . David Keunig, originating in Peeled, in the Iowa followed courses to the college of Kirkwood and the Université of the Iowa. He then moved with Las Vegas in January 2000 to work in a shop of clothing Banana Republic. Max Stoermer was as for him dispach rider in the field medical and studying in Philosophie at the University of the Nevada. Lastly, Ronnie Vannucci was student in traditional Percussions and Photographe.

The group plays for the first time in the club Gay of Las Vegas Tramps . It is in Great Britain that the group starts to increase its notoriety, in particular in the pages of the magazine New Musical Express train . The exit of their first album Hot Fuss the June 7th 2004, at Lizard King Records, then with the the United States the June 15th of the same year at Island Records gives access to them success. End 2004, their album leaves to the Japan and in France, like their first individual, Somebody told me , followed by Mr. Brightside and All These Things That I' ve Done .

The second album of the group Sam' S Town , left the October 3rd 2006. This album was not voted by plebiscite as much by criticism but the sales were very high. The first individual " When You Were Young" is a great success, and it is followed of " Bones ", whose clip was directed by Tim Burton. The third individual one is the Ballade synth- Rock " Read My Mind " follow-up of " For Reasons Unknown ".
