The Joshua Tree is the 5th album studio of U2 left on March 9th, 1987 in music on Island Records. It was produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.
Context
Ten months of round exhausted a group which was of all the festivals and stole the high-speed motorboat to all the other stars present at the famous Live Aid organized by Bob Geldof and did not have time to think of its future. From 1986, one retains especially his participation in the round Amnesty International: Conspiracy Off Hope . However, the quartet all the same found time to create its own label, Mother Records , to help the Irish young talents. Bono, for its part, collaborated with the group Clannad and left for Ethiopia, an experiment of which it returns strongly marked.
It is only at the end of 1986 that U2 gathers to work following the The Unforgettable Fire . U2 preserves the gaining team: the English Brian Eno and the Canadian Daniel Lanois are thus recalled for this album.
Critical
For the decade spent, U2 is the group by which the rock'n'roll continues to exist. The Joshua Tree is undoubtedly the most organic disc, most cordial recorded by the quartet, a result due to the fact that, this time, Eno was somewhat erased with the profit of Lanois.
The album opens on what one can call the Holy Trinity of the Irishmen, three pieces with the romanticism imparable for as much of tube S: Where The Streets Cuts No Name , I Still Haven' T Found What I' m Looking For , With gold Without You … Then environment darkens with worrying the Bullet the Blue Sky where the guitar of The Edge is spread in the threatening Larsens S. Bono, it, are affirmed definitively like “a true” singer, his voice is made more Soul and, accompanied by only one piano on the beginning of Running To Stand Still , allured definitively. Only In God' S Country can point out a little the lyrical flights of the beginnings, whereas Exit is a piece with share, the anarchistic structure, and announces, without the knowledge, the experiments of the years 1990.
But U2 is not yet there. It is at the top of its glory: the very serious American magazine Time Magazine offers its one in April 1987 to him, an honor that only The Beatles and The Who knew front.
