the Jacques-Cartier is a regional municipality of county of the province of Quebec, in the administrative area of the Capital-Main road, created on April 1st, 1981. Its chief town is the municipality of Shannon. It is made up of 10 municipalities: 4 cities, 4 municipalities, 1 municipality of plain cantons and 1 territory not organized. Its current prefect (2005) is Michel Giroux, his substitute is Gilles Landry.
