History

In 1974, Jean-Louis Guillaud, president of the third chain of the ORTF entrusts to Christophe Izard the adaptation for the France of the American emission Sesame Street for the re-entry 1974. The emission must last 20 minutes. Having 13 minutes of Sesame Street and documentary a 4 minutes animalist of Pascale Breugnot, Christophe Izard must find an idea to fill the 4 remaining minutes. Surrounded by a team of some people, whose Yves Brunier, it creates the Island with the children and the character of Casimir.

Starting from the re-entry 1976, the Island with the children does not take again any more the sequences of Hello Sesame but is made up to 100% of French productions to form 20 minutes a complete program.

Vis-a-vis the success of Récré A2 as of 1979 on the concurrent chain, the audience of the emission erodes and Christophe Izard puts then fine at the adventure by creating the Village in the clouds in September 1982, taking again part of the actors of the Island to the children .

In 1992, during an emission of the Big family on Canal+ devoted to the memories of childhood of the young adults and whose Casimir (Yves Brunier) was the guest, Jean-Luc Delarue launched a call to the return of the nice monster on the French screens. The call was understood the following year and the best episodes were repeated on Canal J of September 6th 1993 at June 1998 each evening with 18:00, follow-ups of a small sequence animated on line by Casimir and Léonard the Fox.
