The Invasion

The Invasion (the Invasion) was a Storyline of Catch to the World Wrestling Federation which began little from time after the repurchase of the World Championship Wrestling by the WWF. Thus, all-in wrestlers of the WCW " envahissait" televised shows of the WWF to put an end to the WWF.

The idea of an event including/understanding two best promotions of the Monday Night Wars was regarded as a scenario of dream to the eyes of much of fans, which would enable them to see which federation (at least in the Kayfabe) was going to be higher.

Monday Night Wars saw the WWF and the WCW, the two larger federations of wrestling of North America, being with the neck and neck in the battles of the audiences. Through events like the nWo and the Montreal Screwjob, the fans unceasingly continued to compare the two federations, and the community of fans on Internet did not finish any more discussing to know which of the two federations was the best.

However, several factors like the organizations of the matches and the Storyline S brought the WCW in an infernal spiral from which it did not go back from there. Monday Night Wars ended the March 23rd 2001, when the WWF bought the WCW for what was regarded as being a cheap price.

The last night of Monday Night Wars proceeded the March 26th 2001: RAW was concentrated into full on the road with WrestleMania X-Seven , whereas Nitro thus organized its last edition with a Nuit of the Champions . Vince McMahon opened Nitro and announced simultaneous between the two shows later this night to turn to the future of the WCW. With RAW , McMahon publicly announced the names of all-in wrestlers of the WCW which would not be retained. After Sting beat Ric Flair in what was the very last match of the history of the WCW, the simultaneous one started. McMahon spoke about the repurchase of the WCW and how it completely put fire to the personnel of the WCW, under the acclamations of the public of RAW and whistles of the public of Nitro . McMahon announced then that it would sign the contract and to make the repurchase official to WrestleMania . However, Shane McMahon appeared with Nitro and announced (Kayfabe) that it is him which signed already the contract and repurchased the WCW under the nose of his/her father, planting seed of what was regarded as future a Storyline of great opportunity. The Invasion did not begin immediately, the WWF prepared for WrestleMania X-Seven , the largest show of the year.

The Invasion

Because the WWF acquired the WCW, the WWF doubled the size of sound roster and result of the races, it had there no more enough of time of antenna for everyone. The WWF finally started to recognize the WCW and tested the idea to begin an extension from division while giving to the WCW the twenty last minutes of RAW (for this, the whole decoration of RAW was changed), with Scott Hudson and Arn Anderson making the comments instead of Jim Ross and Paul Heyman. During a match between Buff Bagwell and Booker T for WCW World Heavyweight Championship, the all-in wrestlers of the WWF Kurt Angle and the champion Stone Cold Steve Austin intervened in the match by tabassant the two men. The match in itself on TV had a negative reaction on behalf of the fans of the WWF looking at the show or as a spectator.

The addition of the ECW

The July 9th, ECW was also brought in the Invasion. Consequently, the ECW was linked with the WCW to form The Alliance. With Invasion , the first battle took place, with team WCW/ECW beating that of the WWF when Austin was turned over against the WWF. The following night, Austin affirmed that it joined Alliance parce q' uils appreciated it, contrary to the WWF.

The WWF gained the rage to overcome the July 26th at the time of an edition of SmackDown! when Angle beat Booker for WCW World Heavyweight Championship. The reign of Angle however turned short, as Booker T recovered the title the July 30th with RAW . In this same RAW , The Rock already turned over to the WWF for the first time since its (kayfabe) suspension the April 2nd to RAW . Its return led to a match for the title WCW between The Rock and Booker T to the SummerSlam 2001 , that The Rock gained. This same statement, Austin preserved its WWF Championship against Angle after Angle carried it by disqualification. After Invasion , the programs TV of the WWF were made up almost exclusively of matches between the superstars of the Alliance and those of the WWF for the titles of the two extremes.

All this led to a match " Winner Take Al; ( gaining It gains all ) with the Survivor Series 2001 , which saw to clash the team of WWF (The Rock, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, Kane, and The Big Show) against that of Alliance (Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Booker T, Rob Van Damm, and Shane McMahon). Team WWF carried it, when The Rock'n'roll carried out fallen on Steve Austin (following an intervention of Angle which was turned over against Austin), putting thus fine at the storyline.
