Synopsis

This sitcom puts in scene the tribulations of Roy, Moss and Jen high characters colors employed of the basement of Reynholm Industries, large and obscure London company.

IT Crowd (in French, “Data-processing Department”) is located in the offices of Reynholm Industries, a fictitious company whose one does not know to date the activity, in the middle of London. One follows there the peregrinations of data-processing staff consisted of three (+ one) rowdy characters officiating in the dark buildings bordelic, dirty and deprived of windows of a basement contrasting with the modern and luxuriant aspect with sight on London of the remainder of the company.

Moss and Roy, the two employees, are thorough caricatures of Geek S and even Nerd S. In spite of the fact that the company needs them to ensure the maintenance of the computers, the other employees scorn them and go sometimes even until dodging them. Perhaps because the protagonists spend their time avoiding answering on the telephone by hoping that this last stops sounding, or because of the improper use of a responder reacting of TAC to TAC with the usual interrogations of the employees whose computer is in roads (“tried to start again it? ” and “Be you certain that it is well connected? ”).

Jen, the responsible for the department is assigned to this station at the time of the pilot, although it is hopelessly inefficient as regards data processing; as opposed to what she claims on her CV. Denholm the chairman, even more ignare that it, the recruiting in order to improve the communication between data-processing staff and the remainder of the employees, unfortunately, the end result is often contrary, sowing even more the discord in the company.

Characters

Main characters

  • Jen To bore : The girl. In the first episode it is named with the head of IT Crowd whereas it knows absolutely nothing there computers question. It passes from the statute of section head to that of " Public relations " thanks to its easy contact with the other employees. She adores the shoes and the men, and often uses the lie to leave herself delicate situations or quite simply to emphasize herself.
  • Roy : The geek. Roy is a lazy Irish computer science engineer, which is organized as well as possible to have less possible work and to avoid subjecting itself to the role that imposes to him its functions. He likes the computers, the video games, the Comic S, the Malbouffe, the tee-shirts with references geek, but he loves as the girls, except that them return to him very badly, in spite of a socialization with normal people more thorough as that of Moss. Lorqu' it is irritated, disappointed or saddened, its voice becomes ridiculously acute. One feels like a point of ambiguity with Jen, but the creators of the series did not develop it more than that.

  • Maurice Moss : The nerd. Maurice Moss, but everyone calls it Moss, is thirty year alive in his/her mother, who sociologiquement is sociologiquement not adapted to the conversation with people known as “normal”. It has the caricatural look of the basic nerd with a short sleeve shirt re-entry in too short pants and glasses with large mountings. It spends its time inventing useless tricks of the type “a scale to help the flies to leave the bath-tub”. Endowed in sciences and technology, it is however unable to extinguish a fire or to crush a spider.

Supporting characters

  • Deynholm Reynholm : chairman of Reynholm Industries which it itself created. This large man with a moustache is the caricature of the despotic, inclined senior officer with the modern but ridiculous initiatives such as the mixed toilets, the seminars anti-stress supposedly allowing to increase the productivity of the employees. One learns in the second season that it is mingled with financial embezzlements.
  • Richmond Avenal : The Gothic . It appears only with the fourth episode and one really does not know for what it is used. A sudden passion for the group of Black metal Cradle off Filth made it pass from the statute of pet of the chairman to supervisor of luminous buttons of which he is unaware of completely the function behind the red door , in the room of the waiters of the company. Its completely related look with that of Edward to the hands of money of Tim Burton and its way of looking in the air in the vacuum when he tells a history confer him a melodramatic dimension reinforcing its ridiculously depressive voice.

  • Douglas Reynholm : The son of the chairman. He appears at the time of the second season after a scenaristic surprise which it is preferable not to reveal. He had exiled himself out of the England during seven years. Its way of speaking is very Actors Studio, with great gestures and a strong voice. Mainly famous to badger his employees sexually, it is learned that his wife died in a fire. It tries flirter with Jen hopelessly, without reaching really that point. As an information, Matt Berry has only nine years old less than the actor playing his father.
