the Hoop-on-Seine is a commune of the department of the Val-d'Oise and area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants names Frettois (be).

The commune is located on Right Bank of the the Seine, to approximately 20 km in the North-West of Paris.

History
Perhaps the origin of the name of the city comes from Latin fraustrum , waste land, of former French fraite , ditch, or according to local historians of bottom Latin hooped , freight, related to the port activity: freight, i.e. the price of hiring of a boat or its contents. The oldest trace of life discovered with the Hoop is a remainder of Gallo-Roman pottery.
Many artists painted the Hoop: Paul Cézanne, Charles-François Daubigny, Albert Marquet, Paul Signac or Maurice Vlaminck. The writers Jacques Burrs and Roger Ikor lived the Hoop as well as the draftsman of Cartoon Philippe Druillet.
Alfred Jarry remained there some time in 1899.
The speciality of the Hoop was the culture of the common lilac a long time (sold then with Paris) as well as the Viticulture (see: Wines of Argenteuil).

Monuments and places of visit
the house-workshop of Albert-Marquet (30, quai de Seine) date of the 19th century. The painter landscape designer and draftsman, raise Gustave Moreau, moved into this house in 1939; many fabrics of the Seine were painted in this place.the house of the writer Jacques Burrs (26 rue Aristide-Briand), was built in 1925. The house was described in Romanesques in 1938. The writer died there in 1968.
