The Holy Father (Yonne)

the Holy Father is a common department of the Yonne, in the area Burgundy, in France.

Geography

The Holy Father is crossed by the Cure, affluent of the Yonne and river of first category (known as " river with truite"). The village is in a " creux" encircled of any share of places of altitude (Vézelay, Terria, Vines, Avallon…)

  • the church Notre-Dame de Saint Father

Built 13th century at the 15th century, it is a chief of work of the blazing Gothic art Burgundian. The Bell-tower of the 13th century, high of 50 meters or 34,30m except arrow is remarkable. The church makes also overall 50m.

    • Outside, a covered porch and typical field of Burgundy.
    • Inside, 2 capitals of which a head of negro and a head of miserly very damaged whose 2 dragons eat the ears remained deaf with the calls. The expensive restoration obliges has to call upon the generosity of the inhabitants of a modest commune of 385 inhabitants. Very few masses are celebrated there.
