the heart has its reasons is a parodic Feuilleton televised Québécois, created by Marc Brunet and diffused since February 3rd, 2005 on television on VAT.

Synopsis

Doug Montgomery, a tycoon of the beauty products, is found died in its opulent manor of Saint-Andrews. His/her favorite son Brett, who had given up directing the family company to practice medicine, is then opposed to his twin brother Brad who wants to take again the control of the company.

Been engaged of Brett, Criquette, is then victim of an attempted murder, attack of a ball in its generous chest. Emerge then Ashley, his/her sister twins up to now unknown of all, and Peter Malboro, a rebellious police officer with the not very orthodoxe methods. It is by usurping the identity of his/her twin sister at the time of the funeral of Doug that Ashley tries, without success, to discover the identity of the attacker of Criquette.

The reading of the will of Doug will make emerge from the competitions in the family, which will carry out the company in a very precarious situation. It is learned whereas Brad is married with Becky Walters, the president of a concurrent company and that they will have a child of black race, small Chris, in spite of the sterility of Brad. Comments

the heart has its reasons is a parody of the Soap operated S American. All the prototypes of this kind of emissions are present and the stories twisted there are pushed to the extreme of the ridiculous one. The accent of the characters does not have also anything to see with French spoken in Canada; the actors imitate the French accent of doublings of American serials such as they are introduced to Canada.

The title of the emission comes from a quotation of Blaise Pascal in his Pensées .

The credits change with each episode by showing only the characters who will intervene.

This serial was born on September 20th, 2001 in short humorous capsules diffused inside the emission the Large Fair one with an underhand show . The first 17 adventures of Brett, Brad, Criquette and Ashley are thus former to the first season of the series.

The June 14th 2007, the turning of the emission was stopped during one day because of a spontaneous Grève of the artists of the Union of the artists which was in negotiation for the renewal of the Collective agreement and which asserted the right to the royalties on the diffusions by the means of the new media: Cell phone, Internet, etc
