Summary

This history proceeds in 1859 - 1860, in the extreme south of the Ground of Fire. In order to avoid a Shipwreck with the sailing ships which pass by there, a headlight was built on the island of the States, located at the extreme south of America, where the Pacifique and the Atlantique enter in collision. Three guards are charged to take care of the operation of this headlight, located out of uninhabited and inhospitable ground. The three guards are unaware of however that a band of pirates, carried out by Kongre and its Carcante arm-right, prevail on this island and plunder the ships which run aground it, not hesitating to massacre the crew of it. Two of the guards are assassinated by the pirates and the third, the Vasquez old man, flees and collects an American shipwrecked man, John Davis. Together, they will try to prevent the pirates from leaving the island while waiting for the arrival of the military ship Santa-Fe .
