The Harmonic Poem

The Harmonic Poème is a whole of musicians soloists brought together around Vincent Dumestre. Since its formation in 1998, it chose to concentrate its artistic work mainly on the musics of XVIIe and the beginning of the XVIIIe century.

History

Right from the start, its research on vocal and instrumental interpretation grew rich by the contributions of other artistic disciplines: actors and dancers unite with the singers and musicians, initially in chamber music - Ballet of the Fairies, It Fasolo - then as from 2004 in scenic productions like the Middle-class man Gentleman of Lully and Molière (put in scene of Benjamin Lazar) or the Carnival Baroque (put in scene of Cecile Roussat), spectacle of a new kind mixing the Italian music with work with the artists resulting from the National center of Arts of the Circus.

In the field of the opera ( the Human life of Marco Marazzoli, conceived for crowned places, soon Cadmus and Hermione of Lully, re-creation of the records of the lyric tragedy, two spectacles put in scene by Benjamin Lazar), the Harmonic Poem carries out a careful thought on the correspondences between the esthetics “of time” (lighting with the candle and gestural, and for Cadmus painted fabrics and machinery) and that of the contemporary scene. This synthesis between the artistic disciplines, matched with a true work of troop on behalf of the interpreters, signs the singularity of the whole in the landscape baroque today, where it also brings a new glance on the popular sources of the Italian and French repertories: thus of the recording To the Steps of the Palate , devoted to the French songs of oral tradition.

The Harmonic Poem carried out since its creation of many rounds in Europe and in the world. In 2006 and 2007, its scenic spectacles knew an exceptional diffusion: seventeen representations of the Middle-class Gentleman (Brussels, Paris, Evreux, Prague, Belgrade, Budapest, Rouen, Caen), thirty-five of the Carnival Baroque , created in January 2006 (of which Lyon, San Francisco, Louviers, Rouen, Paris, Caen, Belgrade, Nantes), eight of the Human life , created in September 2006 (of which Utrecht, Ambronay, Paris and Sablé). With the concert, the unit carries out during the same period an important residence in Brussels (Bozar), like its beginnings with the Academy Santa Cecilia of Rome, in Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Boston Early Music Festival and the International festival of Grenade.

Among the outstanding projects of the Harmonic Poem over the seasons to come, the creation of Cadmus and Hermione of Lully (January 2008 to the Comic Opera in Paris, together with a residence in concerts, Operated of Rouen, and over the following season Théâtre of Caen), a vast freehand granted to Vincent Dumestre by the Festival Fall in Normandy for its edition 2008, beginnings in concert in New York, a first round in Japan and new invitations in Rome, Cracow and San Francisco.

Its recordings for the label Alpha are a rare public success (more than 150.000 discs and DVD sold since the creation of the unit) and critical: Grand Prix of the Academy Charles-Cross-country race, Gold Tuning fork (whose better DVD of the year 2006 for the Middle-class man Gentleman ), Recommended by Classica, Shock of the World of the music, Is a prelude to Classical Award 2003, International prize of Disc A.
