The Handle-Saint-Jean

The Handle-Saint-Jean is a Municipalité of village Quebec, (Canada), belonging to the regional Municipalité of county of the Fjord-of-Saguenay the, located in the administrative area of the Saguenay-Lake-Saint-Jean.

Tourism

The village is located in the middle of the Fjord Saguenay where one finds several activities estival and winter such as the Alpine skiing with the Mount-Edouard, hiking, excursions in rackets, horsemanship, excursions in sledge with dog, cruisings and others. The view-point of the handle of Snuffbox of the National park of Saguenay gives also a spectacular point of view on the fjord.

Situation

As for the close municipalities (Small-Saguenay and River-Eternity), the Midsummer's Day Handle is located in a wedged valley. Between 1954 and 1992, the landscape of the Handle-Saint-Jean was reproduced on the ticket of 1000$ Canadian. The tickets of 1000$ are not available any more to Canada. The January 21st 1997, the Handle-Saint-Jean deployed a legal innovation by electing the king Denys Ier of the Handle by Référendum, declaring in fact the first municipal Monarchie of America.
