The Gull (Tchekhov)

the Gull ( Чайка ) is the first of the four most known parts of Anton Tchekhov.

This part, announced like a Comedy, is revealed progressively like a Tragédie. It comprises four acts and was created with Saint-Pétersbourg the October 17th 1896 and with Moscow the December 17th 1898 (in the Théâtre of art of Moscow in a setting in scene of Constantin Stanislavski and Vladimir Nemirovitch-Dantchenko).

One finds in this part, the torments of characters who seek themselves, which seeks the love but let it flee or pass to side without seeing it, which suffer from their passion or their ambitions. It is in the tragic outcome that the characters are confronted with their image.

the Gull , it is the history of Nina, liked by Tréplev which wrote a part to him. But Nina, persuaded of her vocation of actress flees with the lover of the mother of Trepliev, recognized writer. But it will not meet the success, abandoned by its family, and forsaken by his lover it will only remain to him to return close to Trepliev which will not want any more she. It is a table where the human behaviors intermingle.
