the Grand Cross is a common French, located in the department of the the Loire and the area the Rhone-Alps.

History

The Grand Cross was founded in May 1860, on territories borrowed from the communes of Cellieu and Saint-Paul-in-Jarez. This last commune had already seen its territory amputee by the creation of the commune of Lorette in April 1847.

The Grand Cross owes its name with a cross whose vestiges were installed near the new Town hall. Several mine shafts existed, exploited in particular by “the company of the mines of Peroneal”, wells now disappeared.
